Hey guys, Axe here. I want to talk aboutthe many benefits of vitamin D as well as vitamin D deficiency. So many people are strugglingwith vitamin D deficiency. In fact, according to a lot of medical studies today, they'reshowing that quite possibly the top deficiency we have in America is a vitamin D deficiency,and for a lot of us there are several reasons for that. But let me talk about the symptomsof vitamin D deficiency. I'm then going to get into what's causing vitamin D deficiency,then go over the best foods, supplements and things you can do to correct this type ofissue. But first and foremost, the big thing thatcan cause or the big symptoms you might have

with a vitamin D deficiency are immune issues.If you have a weakened immune system, that could be correlated with a vitamin D deficiency.If you have candida or bacterial overgrowth, it can be caused from a vitamin D deficiency.If you struggle with let's say emotional ups and downs, like depression and anxiety, thatcan be a cause. Hormone imbalance, major cause of vitamin D deficiency. If you have troubleputting on muscle or losing weight, those are all correlated with a vitamin D deficiency.If you have weak bones or teeth, osteoporosis or osteopenia, those are warning signs youhave a vitamin D deficiency. So again, you can see there are a lot of things and I didn't even get into certain other

things like cancer and diabetes and heartdisease but those are all warning signs you could have a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is responsible for really supportinga healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and here's a key thing toremember. Vitamin D is not just a vitamin. Now, apart from that, certain foods will containsmall amounts of vitamin D. Number one source will be wild caught salmon or fish, so againgetting wild caught fish on a regular basis. Also, raw fermented milk, like a goat's milkyogurt, may have small amounts of vitamin D, as will mushrooms and eggs. But again,you're going to get very small amount in diet.

George, the interesting thing that you needto bear in mind when you're on the Candida

diet is you can eat carbohydrates and youcan eat proteins. You can eat fats. You can eat a whole range of different foods. Youdon't have to lose a whole lot of weight. If you're losing weight, it tells me basically(a) you're not eating enough foods, (b) you're not eating the right kind of foods to maintainthe weight, or (c) you're exercising or doing too much. You're basically burning up yourcalories and not putting enough calories in there.Also bear in mind that people with yeast infections and digestive problems who are unwell generallycan often have a slightly higher metabolic rate, so they can be hungrier, be burningup more food, and then be very scared and

when patients went on very strict kinds ofAtkins induction dietary approaches that they felt really good for the first few days ora week and then they felt like crap after that. They felt sick. They got blocked up.They got constipated. They didn't feel well at all. It's no good to be too strict withany kind of dietary approach for too long. So let's talk about the different kinds ofcarbohydrates you can include in your diet with Candida, and if you're scared about consumingthese kinds of carbohydrates. The advice I'm going to give you now, George,is not going to specifically relate to your case because I haven't seen you as a patient.I don't know all the details around your case,

so it's just general information. When I seepeople on Skype or FaceTime on the computer from around the world, I listen very carefullywhat they've got to say and I can give highly specific advice for their needs. Remember,just bear it in mind. These carbs can really range from person to person quite wildly.I've never found brown rice a problem on the Candida diet, particularly if people startwith small amounts of brown rice. We're talking very small amounts. It could be an ounce.It could be like a tablespoon if they're quite suspicious about that food. And they can addit to things like steamed vegetables or casserole dishes or different kinds of meals that they'reeating and they shouldn't have a problem.

Point number one. Write this down. If you'regoing to start a new carbohydrate in your diet or you haven't consumed it for some time,start with very small amounts. That's because the bacteria in your gut, whether they'recommensals, bacteria in transition from good to bad, or whether they're beneficials orlack of beneficials or whether they're bad bacteria or whether they're Candida in small,moderate or large amounts. We don't know what you've got in your gut. We don't know howthese bugs are going to handle a huge influx of this new carbohydrate.
