Candida And Acid Reflux
Thanks for checking out my tutorial today. I'mgoing to talk about Candida and GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux or heartburn. A person recently askedme on YouTube is Candida associated with GERD or reflux. Well, it certainly can be, andI've seen this in many instances that people with Candida, particularly severe Candida,can have esophageal reflux. One of the key things that Candida causesis fermentation dysbiosis. Fermentation occurs basically from sugar consuming yeast or consumingfood, particularly refined carbohydrates, and producing gas. Fermentation is commonand will often present itself with bloating and gas, farting, flatulence, bloating ofthe abdominal region, particularly after sweet
foods. Many people who drink wine regularlyor beer, people who eat pizzas and these sorts of foods regularly get fermentation dysbiosis,especially foods containing yeast when they consume sugar as well.But heartburn is also quite common, and this can occur for a few reasons. Heartburn, particularly,I find occurs with people with low stomach acidity. The whole digestive system becomesdisordered with Candida. Low stomach acidity or hypochlorhydria is very common, particularlywith people my age and over like 50 plus. Many people have got low functioning stomachs.Heartburn, in fact, occurs more commonly is under acid than over acid stomach.The whole idea of taking acid blockers, various
drugs to dilute stomach acid to stop heartburn,is quite a silly thing to do because you're actually preventing the breakdown and uptakeof nutrients. You're also affecting how the pancreas works because the pancreas relieson good acidification from the gut to convert inactive enzymes to active enzymes that itproduces. And this, of course, is important to help break food down properly and alsoprovide food for the beneficial bacteria further downstream in the intestinal tract. Many peopletaking these acid medications end up with a lot of digestive problems further downstream.They may prevent getting heartburn, but they get a lot of problems down lower like constipationor diarrhea or bloating or gas.
Fermentation dysbiosis and underactive stomachare two common things I associate with Candida. Yes, you will find a relationship there, particularlychronic Candida, and esophageal reflux. Many patients also have bacterial infections ofthe stomach. Helicobacter pylori, so bacteria can actually live in the stomach. They don'tmind that acid environment, and they secrete a bicarbonate solution to neutralize acidaround them and that causes lots of burping. If you have a lowgrade queasy sensation ornausea, especially if you change position in bed, sitting up or lying down. If you avoidcertain kinds of foods because they make you feel quite sick or nauseous or you get hotand cold sweats from eating things like garlic,
especially right after eating them, this canbe a red flag or a certain sure fire sign that you could have a helicobacter infection.I'll do some more tutorials on H. pylori because it's a huge problem. About one in five Americanshas helicobacter. I think it's about 25 percent of Australian and Kiwis have this as well.Again, this could be underpinning your GERD or reflux, and it commonly does. We know nowafter the word from Barry Marshall, the Australian who discovered helicobacter,I believe it was 1994, that over 90 percent of all peptic ulcers and stomach ulcers are,in fact, caused by helicobacter pylori, so quite a common bug. It can be transmittedfrom one person to another with utensil sharing,
sharing cups around, spoons, or stuff likethat. We find it in families, too. I often find the mom or the dad will have it and thekids may have it or the uncle may have it. It's not that uncommon.That could be another sign or a reason why you could have this heartburn. It could behelicobacter. It could be Candida. First thing I recommend that you do is, obviously, changeyour diet and take these kinds of foods out that promote gas, the sugary foods, the takeawayfoods, the alcohols, all the sweet foods, candy and chocolate, these sorts of foods.They should really go first and have a more alkaline diet, so put more vegetables in yourdiet. Drink more water. These sorts of things
Can Betaine HCL Treat Candida Yeast Infections
Greetings. Naturopath Eric Bakker from NewZealand. Author of Candida Crusher and formulator of the Canxida range of products. I've gota question here from Claudevia Sameen from Kiev, Ukraine. Claudivia is asking me, quot;CanBetaine HCL treat Candida?quot; So betaine hydrochloride. Betaine is really a supplement; trimethylglycineis a supplement that we use for improving stomach acidity. It's commonly thought thatmany people who get reflux disease and heartburn have over acid production and, in fact, manyhave under acid production. It's a very common assumption that heartburn is caused by overacidity and it's spawned a whole huge industry, particularly in North America in the UnitedStates. It's almost a $10 billion US dollar
industry with one drug called Nexium alonenetting over $6 billion last year. Stomach acid is very important. It's a veryimportant part of good health for people. A very important part. And when we start blockingstomach acid with medications, we create a huge amount of problem with people. I've doneanother tutorial on Nexium that you can watch, and that explains a little bit more aboutthe different kinds of medications, the acid blockers, we've got different kinds, two differenttypes we use, and their effect on human health. A study has found that over 70 percent ofpeople who take these acidblocking medications have got, in fact, a yeast infection. By increasingstomach acidity rather than decreasing it,
we're going to have a good effect on improvingnot just the stomach function in general, but we're also going to prevent the body fromgaining the ability to get these infections. So you're more prone to getting a yeast infectionor small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, what we call SIBO, if you've got a higherpH of the stomach, so a more alkaline stomach rather than a more acidforming stomach.A good way to take betaine hydrochloride, Jonathan Wright in the States, very famous years ago recommended people start with 300 to 500 mg of betaine HCL as a supplement.Take it with a meal one capsule and then with each succeeding meal, increase by one doseuntil you reach your what we call quot;tummy tolerance.quot;
If you start feeling a bit of reflux or heartburnbehind the sternum here, you back off and you work under that threshold. I've had somepatients honestly take 20 or 30 of these capsules a day until they reach their stomach's aciditylevel. And then over a period of a week or two, they had to back off and use lower andlower dosages. This is called the quot;tummy tolerancequot; method and it works quite well for a lot ofpeople. If you've quite serious heartburn, you could try a little bit of betaine, a littlebit of lemon juice or cider vinegar may help, too, or a bit of betaine. If you've got Candida,make sure that you take a digestive enzyme that contains a bit of betaine.Check out my products called Canxida Restore.
That's got digestive enzymes in it, alongwith some probiotics. Probiotics, in fact, improve the upper level of the stomach's health,and antibiotics are linked, in fact, with people taking these acid blocking medications.Because what we found is that when many people take an antibiotic, they, in fact, destroythe beneficial flora in the stomach. And yes, there are beneficial bacteria there, too,and right throughout the digestive tract. This, in turn, can create reflux disease andproblems requiring a drug like Zantac or Tagamet or Prevacid or Nexium, one of those drugs.So if you require one of these drugs, have you taken an antibiotic in the past? Maybeyou just need to take a good probiotic enzyme
formula to build that health back up again.That's a bit of a longwinded reply there for Claudivia in Kiev, Ukraine. I hope thatanswers your question Claudivia. Don't forget to do my online quiz at yeastinfection to determine what kind of level of severity of Candida you've got. Thanks for tuning in.
